I’ve uploaded all the Otakon 2013 photos now, they’re available on my photo site. If you want to see all the convention photos, you can go to my Conventions gallery, or if you just want to see cosplayers close-up, go to my Cosplay gallery. There will be more as I move them from this site to that one, but it will take some time.
Well, I haven’t updated this site in a couple of weeks, last weekend I was at the 20th Otakon in Baltimore, and took a whole mess of pictures. Since then I’ve been busy working on a new website. I’ve decided to move most of my photography from this site, and make a more semi-pro portfolio site, using one of my old domains. Instead of trying to force this site into the form, either with a separate theme or try to figure out multi-site, I decided to just bite the bullet, buy a real photography theme, and build a new site. I’ll still have links from here to the new site, but the actual photos will be over on lexonia.net. Check it out!
Okay, disclaimer: I know next to nothing about the Assassin’s Creed series of games, other than that number 3 is supposedly set in the British Colonies around the time of the American Revolution, and the character doesn’t like the British. So, this video might be even more interesting to you gamers who know about it, and you may or may not be as impressed as I am by the athletic ability of the guy, Ronnie Shalvis, who performs the parkour moves in this video. He does quite a few flashy and most likely unnecessary moves, but daggone they’re amazing nonetheless! The cinematography is fantastic, and the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful.
I will let you all judge the skill of the performer, and how “Assassin’s Creed”-worthy the video is. It impressed the heck out of me.
Well, after walking and walking and walking, I made it to the end of the parade route, where I was able to finally cross Constitution Avenue to the side where the matsuri was taking place. Then it was another 4 block or so walk to get to the nearest entrance to the matsuri, where I stopped to rest for a few minutes. I decided to pace myself after looking in on the huge crowds of people milling about (or trying to!) inside the matsuri fence, because there would be no sitting inside! I managed to spend about 4 hours there, got to see some interesting booths, inflicted my Japanese on some poor folks, and basically had fun. I saw a very high-energy J-Pop band called “M’sh”, and watched some friends perform in a cosplay “fashion show”. After that was over I decided it was time to start the long walk back to my car in the Potomac Park, so I headed back to the Tidal Basin, taking a few more photos along the way. I did stop at the Jefferson Memorial to buy a soft drink and take another short rest, but since I was so close to the car I figured it would be better to keep going. Finally I got to my car at about 5 PM, after starting at 8:30, drove home, unloaded my SD card, and promptly went to sleep!
So, one week later I managed to upload some more photos here! As always, click to see the full-size photo!
Enjoy!
There were a few people at the matsuri…

I have a bag, it’s a pink bag, others may have other bags, but this one is mine. Any questions?
I hate to do this, but I will have to take a couple of days of not posting to get all the cosplay photos cleaned up and posted to my Photography page. I really appreciate everyone who’s stopped by and seen what I’ve posted so far, and hope that those of you who’ve seen yourself here have liked my crude attempts! I promise some of them will be much improved, once I clean up the exposures and white balance settings (my camera is good, but I’m still learning, so I still have to have some Photoshop help! T.T)
To tide you over till Saturday or Sunday, here are a couple more from Day 1.
Whoo boy, was day 3 of Katsucon ever a wild day! Started off with a whole 3 hours sleep, because there was an 8 AM panel that I definitely wanted to see, followed by picking up my Art Auction winnings, and finishing the day with cosplay photos, photos, and more photos! Well, Saturday at Katsucon came and went quickly, it was a cloudy, cold, windy day and I didn’t get a lot of photography done (mostly crowd shots, to get a feel for how busy and fun the con was) but I managed to get some pictures of great cosplayers with really neat costumes!
